Nomisma, a company that deals with consulting and market research, has recently launched the survey: Territori del Welfare, with the aim of identifying cities with settlement, economic and welfare conditions favorable to Italian pensioners; from the results it emerged that moving one’s residence to Salento has considerable advantages.

According to the parameters used by Nomisma, a Welfare Territory is able to accommodate the elderly population for the budget necessary to support a good quality of life, tax concessions and available services.
The presence of a community of retirees brings a new economy into circulation, because their spending power implements the need for commercial and public services, a source of work for the youngest.
